Ljubljana, 09/29/2006  |  press release

Click to enlargeThe Ambassador of Switzerland, Dr Stefan Speck, today presented his letters of accreditation to the President of the Republic, Dr Janez Drnovšek.

The new Ambassador told the President of the Republic that although Switzerland is not a member of the EU, it cooperates well with Slovenia; this can also be seen from the fact that Switzerland, along with Austria, is the biggest foreign investor in Slovenia; at the same time, he emphasised that Switzerland is considerably more integrated in European activities than some EU member states. Discussion also touched on the significance of EU enlargement to new membership.

At the close of their meeting, President Drnovšek wished Ambassador Speck a pleasant stay in Slovenia and added that, although the countries cooperate well, this cooperation could be even better which, in his opinion, was something for which both of them would strive.
