Within the framework of the "Slovene Public Opinion" research in the years 1995 and 1998, the following question was also asked: "Could you name, in your opinion, the most important personalities in Slovene history?" The replies assigned the first place to the Protestant priest Primoz Trubar, who published the first book Catechism in the Slovene language in 1550, the second place is given to the Slovene romantic poet France Presern, the author of "The Toast", the Slovene national anthem. The third place belongs to President Milan Kucan.
The "Slovene Public Opinion" was carried out by the Institute of Social Sciences in Ljubljana, the most prominent institutions for public opinion research in Slovenia.
