
PRESIDENT KUCAN RECEIVED GERMAN FOREIGN MINISTER

The President of the Republic, Milan Kucan, received the Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany, Joschka Fischer today. The President stressed Germany's important role in accelerating the processes of transition and democratisation in South-Eastern European countries, in Slovenia, as well as in the planning and shaping of the new Europe. The collocutors underlined that the European Union's reforms have to go beyond narrow national interests and must take into account the needs of all states, large and small, in order for them to contribute constructively to the building of the European Community as outlined by the Nice summit.
