KUCAN THANKS CIAMPI AND MANCINO
Ljubljana, 14 February 2001
The President of the Republic, Milan Kucan, today dispatched a letter of thanks to the President of the Italian Republic, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, and the President of the Italian Senate, Nicola Mancino, for their personal support to the Slovenian Minority Protection Act in Italy. In a difficult procedure the Act entered a critical stage several times at which time the presidents of the Republic and of the Senate decisively intervened to ensure that the voice of democratic Italy will prevail, an Italy open to what is different and an Italy oriented to the future. In his letter to President Ciampi President Kucan expressed his expectation that all the necessary measures will soon be undertaken for the law to take full force.
