AGREEMENT BETWEEN PRESIDENT KUCAN AND PRESIDENT MESIC

In a telephone conversation today, Croatia's president-elect, Stipe Mesic, personally invited the President of the Republic, Mr Milan Kucan, to attend his solemn inauguration into office on 18 February in Zagreb. President Mesic also assured President Kucan that he would gladly respond to the invitation to pay an official visit to Slovenia as soon as possible. The Presidents agreed that they are also to meet for their first bilateral talks at the inauguration ceremony.

In line with his campaign demand to reduce the competences of the President of the Republic of Croatia, President Stipe Mesic also expressed his interest in learning about the Slovenian experience with the functioning of the institution of President of the Republic.
